  • Georgetown cancels controversial loop road
    September 20, 2011
    Responding to objections of many nearby residents and Ward 3 Councilmember Mary Cheh, Georgetown University announced on Monday that it was canceling its planned “loop road” bus turnaround at the west end of campus adjacent to National Park Service land. The road had become one of the main points of contention between neighbors, especially in Foxhall, and the University as debate proceed over the University's proposed 10-year campus plan.

  • Loop road taken out of Campus Plan

    On Monday, Georgetown University announced it was removing its request in the 2010 Campus Plan for a loop road along the western edge of campus, and is instead opting for a turn-around for GUTS buses in the center of campus.

  • Mendelson on GU Campus Plan: 'I urge the Zoning Commission to reject the plan as filed'

    Council member Phil Mendelson joined the fray over the Georgetown University Campus Plan, writing a letter to the Zoning Commission this week, in which he encouraged its members to reject the GU Plan and to require 100 percent housing of undergraduate students. Mendelson joins Council members Mary Cheh, Vincent Orange and Jack Evans, in expressing his concerns over the plan.
