Prohibition on Parking at Georgetown
Consistent with the Campus Plan, Georgetown University prohibits undergraduate students from bringing vehicles to campus or parking a vehicle on the streets in Georgetown, Burleith, and Foxhall even if otherwise permitted by the D.C. Department of Motor Vehicles, DDOT, ParkDC or other D.C. Agency. Violations of this policy are included in the Code of Student Conduct.
Transportation Alternatives
- Go Metro! Georgetown University is accessible by Metrobus and Metrorail. Visit the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) website to plan your trip using public transit, or plan your trip using Google Maps Transit Directions.
- The University’s GUTS service is a free shuttle service that provides transportation to two nearby Metro Stations, and other points of interest in the DC region.
- Need wheels? Georgetown has several ZipCars available around campus for by the hour or by the day car rentals. Take advantage of the the discounted rate for students and alumni by signing up with your GU e-mail address.
- Georgetown University supports bicycling as a sustainable transportation option. Capital Bikeshare is a popular bike sharing system throughout the District. - Georgetown University is accessible via shared electric scooters, and dockless electric bikes through several rental companies in the District. Remember to wear a helmet, and follow all traffic laws when participating.
