Policies to Know

Living off campus is a privilege and an opportunity for learning and personal growth. It is a time when you are not only a student at Georgetown but also a member of a local community, whether it’s in the District, Virginia, or Maryland.

The University expects that you will be responsible citizens and good neighbors. All Georgetown students are expected to comply with Georgetown University policies & the Code of Student Conduct, local laws, and general community standards of consideration for kindness toward others.

We further encourage you to conduct yourselves in ways that reflect the best of who you are and the best of the University, and to be women and men for others.

Remember also that the University’s Code of Student Conduct applies to all Georgetown University undergraduate students (whether residing on or off campus or studying abroad), graduate students and all students enrolled in the School of Continuing Studies. We want for your time living off campus to be productive and rewarding.

GU Policies

The policies below are particular to Georgetown University students who reside off campus in privately owned properties and serve to assist students in meeting their responsibilities as members of the local community. These policies are also intended to further the University’s commitment to being a good neighbor and working with our neighbors to maintain an enjoyable and safe community in which to live, work and study.
